Happy Valentines Day!

This is how tired/worn out we are:

I went downstairs this morning to get Cub some milk and found two greeting cards waiting for me.  I though - how sweet, Buttin bought me a couple of cards because I'm sick.  The cards were for Valentine's Day - just a week early.

It made me laugh and pretty much made my day.

Happy Birthday to Buttin!

Today is Buttin's 37th Birthday!

I wish I could say that we did something fabulous, but for us - fabulous is two healthy boys, take out food and maybe a little television before I fall asleep holding Chicken.

Here's Chicken today getting kisses from Aunt Liz's dog, Flynn.

A Story By Buttin

Buttin always says I get the best pictures of Cash, but that's only because I take 500 million of them.

He might not always take the best pictures, but he always has the best captions.

Yesterday, Buttin, Dadoo and Cash went to Wal-Mart.  Buttin knows that I hate guns, but I found this little story hilarious.  Yeah, I know - Wal-Mart and guns - it was a classy trip to see Mormor and Dadoo.

Everyone on the ground!

No one try and be a hero and just put the money in a bag!!!

Dammit! Cops are already on my trail.

Just needed a more experienced getaway driver.

Boobies

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the AFTER pregnancy stuff is much more difficult than pregnancy and even labor (hoping to finish my story tomorrow).

A couple of days ago I got a clog in one boobie (it's gone, thankfully) and now I'm feeling one in the other boobie.  OUCHIE!

I'm really hoping I don't have as many boob updates as I did with Cash.

Here are Mac and Scratch relaxing on the couch.

Here are Cub and Buttin pretending to be a worm - they're so strange.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Six Years To Me & Buttin!

Here's Cub today playing in a stranger's yard (he loves the blow up things).

Thomas The Train Day

This morning we surprised Cub with a rainy trip to see Thomas the Train.  He LOVED seeing Thomas, riding the train and playing with all the train cars.

Here's our family photo (I'm not paying $40 for the picture, so please excuse the writing).

Here are Cub and Buttin riding on the train.

After a very busy morning, Cub was a little exhausted/overwhelmed and wasn't very interested in napping until he sat on Butitn's lap.

Adventure Day

**Picture Heavy Post**

Yesterday we had beautiful weather (today too) so we took advantage and played outside.

In the morning, we went to the Park For All where Cash found a baby doll.

It became HIS baby doll.  I thought it made for excellent Chicken practice.

He snuggled the baby and really wanted to take the baby home.  He told me the baby's name was "Cash Nay-er".

Thankfully, the baby's rightful owner claimed him (so we didn't steal the baby), but I see a trip to Target in our future to get Cub a baby of his own.

After lots of playing (and attempted kidnapping), he ate a snack.

In the afternoon we went to the Cedar Rock Railroad and rode the train.  Cash had a blast (and Buttin did too).

After the Cedar Rock Railroad, we went to Kiddie Acres.  This little amusement park was kind of dirty and depressing and like a tetnus shot waiting to happen (see rusty ride below).  Buttin said it looked like murders happened at this place.  Cash had a great time and thought it was awesome.

Cub also got to ride a pony, which he thought was pretty fun (even if the pony was a little smelly and he called it "donkey").

Lazy Post

This evening I had a meeting/happy hour - lots of drinking for this pregnant lady.

I was away all evening - which meant Buttin and Cub spent the afternoon and evening together.

Here are Cub and Riggs hanging out on the cold tile floor.

Saturday, Yuck

Buttin had this kind of Saturday . . .

Passive-aggressive neighbors, oblivious neighbors, wallet and iPod stolen out of truck while working out (thieves managed to charge about $3K before Buttin cancelled the cards, thank goodness for fraud protection) and work junk.

However, we've decided to remember only the good stuff . . . .

Bike rides, hanging out with friends, bounce house and take out dinner.

A Day For Buttin

Buttin has been in Louisiana most of the week.  He needed a day of nothing.

Today was a pre-Father's Day relaxation day for him - including, a massage, lunch and a movie (I went to the movie too).

Cub and I spent most of the morning at the park or the pool.

He has a new favorite game at the pool - it's called - "Fetch Mama".  He throws the ball in the pool and I have to jump in and get it - it's pretty complicated.

PS  I'm getting very tired of tingly, non-running feet.  I'm even starting to get jealous of the people I see running at 2:00 in the afternoon.  If I"m ever able to run again, I promise to never, ever complain about the heat (or the cold).

Some Good Stuff

In bullet point form
  • For my birthday this year, I'm taking the day off work and having a spa day with my favorite parenting critic, Liz.
  • Buttin and I are taking a little vacation this year.  We'll be celebrating America's Independence Day in Canada - more specifically, Toronto.  Buttin and I are still debating the pronunciation (Tor-ron-to or Taronto); however, I was listening to NPR the other day and they used the deliberate three syllable pronunciation, not the one where it runs all together.
  • Cub had a good appointment today with a new ENT.  He's very nice and he's actually the wife of Ari Brown, the author of Baby 411.  Oddly enough, his wife works at the same pediatric clinic as Dr. Boston (which I knew), so I find it kind of strange that Dr. Boston would have recommended Dr. Butthead Jack-a-tard over her colleague's husband.  I told the new ENT (we'll call him Dr. Calm) about Dr. Butthead and Dr. Calm asked me his name.  I told him Dr. Butthead's real name and Dr. Calm said that Dr. Butthead was extremely smart, but not so great with people.  Dr. Calm said that if his children had serious ENT issues - he would send them to Dr. Butthead, but that any ole monkey (his words, not mine) can remove adenoids.  I like Dr. Calm.  Anyway, we're going to schedule to get Cub's adenoids removed soon.  He said the surgery only takes about 20 minutes and the good news - no pre-op blood work!!!  Yipppe for Cub and even bigger yipppee for me! Dr. Calm does NOT recommend taking out Cub's tonsils since Cub is still so young (as Dr. Butthead suggested).  He said that removal of tonsils is a more involved surgery and that the patient can't really act like a two year old - they have to be able to follow instructions and a two year old can barely sit still for five seconds.
Even though Dr. Calm was very, very nice - Cub still wasn't very happy.

Here he is after having his nose checked.

Here he is playing hide-n-seek after the doctor left.

Buttin The Hulk

Ever since Cub started making faces like this:

I started doing a little research on toddlers and tantrums.

It made think about what adults do when we're upset.   Buttin and I tend to hold in our anger - I think because we don't want to seem out of control.

Today Buttin got very angry (not at me, I'm an angel) and I think if he had been around a person (like the iPad repair guy), he'd have punched them and instead of blogging right now, I'd be bailing Buttin out of jail.

I wonder if people who let their anger out (verbally, not physically) feel better.  Maybe we should all have a tantrum every once in a while.

Here's Cub today (after a little tantrum) playing on the trail - he sure looks happy.

Our Stange Child

Here's one of Cash-man's new favorite things to do:

In case you can't tell - he pouring milk onto a book and then drinking (slurping) the milk off of a book.  The kid can't read, but he found a way to use a book.

Here are a couple pictures from today - it was so beautiful outside.

Here's Cash tummy-swinging:

My Week As A Semi-Single Mom

Tonight begins my week as a semi-single mom.  Buttin is attending Fantastic Fest which means he's pretty much watching movies from 2 PM - 2 AM for the next week, with the occasional break to prevent seat sores.  I'm sure he'll be hating Cub's 5:30 AM wake-up call, but he'll probably look forward to spending a little time with his son - even if it is at 5:30.

So I'm beginning to think that we're never going to get cooler weather, but the other day I order a cute little winter hat for Cub.  I got it in the mail today and had Cub model it.

To The Zoo

It was 102 this afternoon, so in our parental wisdom we decided to take Cub to the Austin Zoo.

The Austin Zoo is actually an animal sanctuary - they're all rescues.  It's not a flashy/touristy kind of zoo, but I was pretty impressed with the variety of animals - lions, tigers, bears, pigs, primates, birds and a cute little petting zoo area with sheep, goats, chickens and deer.

Here are a few pictures.

Obviously excited about the pig.
Not hitting the snake glass. Promise.

Feeding the deer.

Picture with black bear.  There really was a bear, but he didn't want to pose.

Do Not Touch or Feed the Cash Cub.
Some kind of primate (not pictured), but Cub thinks it looks like a cat.

Very energetic lion.

Walking out, holding hands with Daddy.

We plan to go again soon - when it gets cooler.

Happy Father's Day!

For Father's Day this year - I sprayed Buttin and Cub with a hose.

It was pretty much a dream come true for Buttin.
