The Tree Is Up!

It's just the tree - no ornaments yet, but don't worry - they'll be up soon.

Here's the tree using a very fancy photo technique (shaking the camera):

Veteran's Day & Nutrition

First of all, Happy Veteran's Day! My dad is a veteran - yeah dad!

When I was growing up, I think his dream was for me to go into the Air Force. Ha - can you imagine me, in the Air Force? I guess I'd be good at the part where you wake up early and go to bed early (I think it's that way in prison too), but that's about the only thing.

In other, totally unrelated news - I tried a new morning drink today (usually I drink a combo of milk, weak coffee and a carnation instant breakfast). One of my fellow running/blogging/mommies posted this shake on her blog the other day. I've never thought to add spinach to a drink before - but I thought I would try it this morning. It was pretty tasty although the spinach doesn't quite liquefy, so it's kind of like drinking something with itty-bitty chunks. Oh well, it's probably a good way to get some of those greens that I'm lacking.

Which brings me to my next nutrition related topic - I eat some weird stuff for someone trying to run a marathon. I'm wondering if I would be a better runner with better nutrition (although I feel strongly that Cadbury Creme Eggs and Taco Bell make excellent fuel). I really am an everything in moderation kind of girl - and a couple of things in excess (like the aforementioned fuel). I'm now going to demonstrate my moderation philosophy by eating a Texadelphia Bacon Cheeseburger with fries, the moderation part is that I'm sharing an order of fries with Barbie.

P.S. I can no longer button my favorite shorts - I'm having to use a rubber band to keep them closed.

Quick Post

I was volunteering at a charity golf tournament yesterday - so no blog post.

Today - I get back to work and EVERYONE (even Patty) is cleaning out their offices preparing for the move. I think the girls are hinting that they're ready to move ASAP! Anyways - there's so much to do and now I'm in the mood to clean. I should really take advantage of this mood - it doesn't come around very often.

I know this is a very tiny blog post, but here's a picture of me at 19 weeks! I think I look a little more pregnant in this picture than I really am - but the good news is, these are all my regular clothes and nothing is elastic!

Marathon Training - Weekly Update

This Week: 11/1 - 11/7

Total Miles Completed: 18.23

Average Pace: 12: 19

Sniff . . sniff. This will be my last "Marathon Training - Weekly Update" post for a while. Maybe from now on, I'll do a weekly workout review on Sundays (well, next Sunday I'll do a Rock N Roll recap).

It felt really strange having all this extra time this week- especially yesterday when my long run was only 8 miles! I can't believe that this time next week my mom and I will be at the starting line (in corral #22) waiting to begin our marathon. I'm must admit - I'm a little nervous and I'm really hoping that it will be less humid than it was during my run yesterday (96%).

Note to the moms: There may not be a post tomorrow - I'll volunteering all-day at a charity golf-tournament.

Thirty Second Movie Review - A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol - 3D

Sadly, I really wanted to LOVE, LOVE this movie; however, there were many parts where I was bored. Visually, the movie was amazing and I really enjoyed all the parts where you would fly around the town. The ghosts were actually a lot creepier than any other version of this movie and I felt scared for some of the children in the audience. Overall, not bad, but I probably won't own it.

Fetus Friday - Week 19

Baby Center has this to say about Lumpy at 19 weeks:

Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now,

so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

I don't really think that Lumpy would want me to sing to him/her, but maybe I'll start reading and talking.

They also say this about Lumpy:

A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

Yick . . . all of the sudden pickles don't sound very good at all. Also, all the pictures I found online of a fetus at 19 weeks - have the baby looking very squished. I guess Lumpy is very flexible right now (foot by face?) - enjoy it now while you can Lumpy, because if you're anything like your momma; you won't ever be able to put your foot by your face again.

Baby Center also has this to say about me:

Think you're big now? You'll start growing even faster in the weeks to come. As a result, you may notice some achiness in your lower abdomen or even an occasional brief, stabbing pain on one or both sides — especially when you shift position or at the end of an active day.

Yup, I feel pretty big (especially considering my generous weight gain) and I have been feeling some of this lower abdomen discomfort, especially after a long run. Thankfully, it's not painful - just a little stretchy feeling.

Next week (week 20) is the technical half-way point (even thought I haven't really been pregnant for 20 weeks - but I still have a full 20 weeks to go) and Lumpy and I will be running a marathon!
