Just writing the words - murdering her child - gives me the shivers.
Like most, I believe that Casey Anthony did something to Caylee; however, I understand the jury's verdict.
In Caylee Anthony's honor, I donated $25 to the Polly Klaas Foundation.
Polly was twelve years old when she was abducted from her home in California in 1993; her body was found two months later. The Polly Klaas Foundation was created by her mother and their goals include; finding missing children, preventing child abduction and working with lawmakers to pass Amber Alert-type legislation. Since 1993 they have helped nearly 7,000 families.
It angers me to think of all the resources used to help find Caylee Anthony when her mother knew she had not been abducted, but hopefully my $25 will help some family some where to find their child.
I have a solution for parents to keep from losing their kids: leashes. That's right, attach a leash and harness to your kid and you will never lose him or her. When you aren't home you can tie them to a tree in the yard or you could even install some kind of hook for the leash in the house. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteAlso cages would work. If you put your kid in a cage you probably won't lose him or her unless the kid finds the key or the Department of Child Services finds out. If you choose the cage option you might want to keep it on the "down low" as many people don't share my progressive mindset when it comes to child rearing.

Speaking as the model of good parenting, leashes and cages just encourage bad behavior in children and get you into trouble with your neighbors and/or the Department of Child Services. The key is to send the kids for extended visits away. That way you aren’t burdened with the whole act of parenting or responsible for their day to day whereabouts and endless needs.
ReplyDeleteFor example, once Stefan returns from his 3 weeks away at camp, he and JT will be packing up and heading to Aunt Liz’s house for the rest of the summer. (Head’s up, Liz!)

Hey Jen
ReplyDeleteSorry for the delayed reply but the internet service here in Nepal is pretty spotty. Jonathan and I are spending the summer climbing Mount Everest...our Sherpa has a satellite phone and some internet access but we can't check email and blogs as often as we would like.
In any case, I am SO SORRY I am going to miss Aunt Liz's Summer Camp for Stefan and JT. Man, if I had only known they would be free I would totally have stayed back in Austin. But as you can see we are on the other side of the world and our plane tickets back to the US aren't until August...or September or whenever it is that your kids are back in school again. Will take lots of photos of ice and snow and mountain goats and stuff on our way up to the top of the Mountain. If we live through this we will be sure and give you a shout when we return stateside.
Your world traveling friend who is gone for a really long time,
Liz
PS: A back of wild dogs is guarding our pool so don't even think about dropping the kids of in our back yard.
