Cash's First Screenplay

If you don't already know it - this post will confirm it - I'm a huge dork.

Last night was Cash and my first night alone without Buttin. In all my dorky wisdom I decided to send Buttin an email containing a screenplay from Cash.

The story contains quite a few jokes that Buttin might only understand, but I know the grandmas will appreciate all the pictures.

I'll leave out all the cheesy, "Hi Daddy - it's me Cash and here's my screenplay" stuff that I put in the email to Buttin and just give you all the plot (of which there's not much) and pictures (of which there are many).

Screenplay: THERE WILL BE SWADDLES

Author: C.H. Naylor (because he'll only use his first two initials as his professional name - like J.K. Rowling, H.P. Lovecraft or H.I. McDunnough)

Starring: Cash Hansen Naylor as DANNY PLAINBLANKET

THE END

I hope you enjoyed it!

Boob Update #582

Well not really, but it certainly does feel like it.

Today I had (yet) another follow up appointment with Dr. Surgeon.

Thankfully, I'm almost back to normal!! Dr. Surgeon said I had done an excellent job draining my boobie and that it looked very good. I'll finish up the last couple of days on my antibiotics, but I don't need a follow-up appointment unless I notice things going poorly again. I'll be so relieved when this whole ordeal is finished.

In other less bodily function related news, Buttin is in Dallas for the night. He's trying to find me a new vehicle (because the Mustang doesn't work well with a car seat and Buttin wants his truck back). This will be our (mine & Cash) first night without Buttin. We'll miss him a ton.

Here's a funny little picture of Cash. He's really starting to fill out his soccer onesie - the spandex really shows off his awesome spare tire.

Did It Feel Like This Last Year?

Because of my boobie infection I haven't been able to run in about three weeks. I felt like I got a really good start about four weeks postpartum and now (or whenever I am able to start running again) I'm starting over, again.

I'm reading all my usual running blogs and they're making me jealous. I see people running (some even in the afternoons) and I'm jealous. My only worry is that - will my body be able to adjust to all this heat and humidity?

I don't remember it being THIS hot or THIS humid this time last year - but maybe my body just had time to adjust. Cash-man and I have been going on walks in the morning and even just walking (at 6 AM) is miserable. Maybe when I start running, I'll work up a little breeze or at least that's my hope. I just can't believe that this time last year I was running double digit mileage in this kind of weather.

Well, like my friend Liz always says - it's good to have a goal - so my goal is by Labor Day to have run at least one double digit mileage run even with all this heat and humidity.

Here's a little silly picture of Cash - I wonder if his cheeks were measured they'd be in the 100th percentile.

Two Month Dr. Sharpie Appointment

I must admit, I was NOT looking forward to this appointment. I knew it would be the first time for shots and I'm not a big fan of hearing Cash-man cry. I barely made it through the heal stick at the two week appointment. I warned Buttin a month ago that this was an appointment he could not miss.

Here are the updates:
  • Cash is 12lbs 13oz - big boy - in the 75th percentile.
  • Cash is 23.5 inches tall - tall boy - in the 75th percentile.
  • Dr. Sharpie said everything looks very good - he's got a nice round head and everything.
  • The dreaded vaccines -
Cash received four vaccines - one orally and three in the thigh (Why with all our medical accomplishments cannot we not find a way to give all vaccines orally?). Thankfully, the nurse was very quick. I didn't cry, but I wanted to. Cash cried and screamed and turned a horribly unnatural shade of purplish red. It was awful for me (probably for him too, but this is MY blog) and for Buttin too. I pretty much grabbed Cash away from Buttin, even though Buttin was very sweetly telling me to go get ready to feed him (the plan was to put him on the boob ASAP to soothe him). I wasn't having any of it - I was going to hold Cash while he was screaming and get ready at the same time. (Maybe I should have been ready BEFORE the shots.)

I would go through this entire boobie infection all over if it meant never having to hear him cry like that again. Sadly, I know it's just the beginning.

Cash only took about five minutes to calm down and promptly fell asleep in his car seat on the way home. He's now asleep in his swing having completely forgotten about it - wish I could.

Dear Cash - 2 Months

This idea is stolen from my friend Lisa. She had twin girls about a year and a half ago and every month she writes them a letter on her blog. I had meant to write one for Cash's one month, but I just got so busy (lame excuse, I know). So - here goes . . .

Dear baby Cash,

So many things have changed in our lives since your arrival two months ago.

I'm not very surprised that we hardly ever call you just Cash; however, I am surprised that the nickname Lumpy has not stuck (it feels so strange since Lumpy was your name even before you were conceived). We instead have many of new names for you - your dad and I both call you Graby (that's grumpy+baby=Graby), I call you Dungadoobar (I think I got this from a TV clip we saw on The Soup), you dad calls you, Cash Man & Little Man and we both call you baby Cash and Cash baby pretty frequently.

You have grown so much in the last couple of months, but when I see you next to me in the mirror I realize that you're still so very small and totally dependent upon Buttin and me for everything.

During the last month, you've started smiling - A TON! You are especially smiley when you wake up around 5AM ready to eat, play and start your day. I thought you'd be more of a nighttime baby, but as it turns out - you're a morning baby. I think you take after me when it comes to sleeping (at least right now) - early to bed, early to rise and lots of naps in the afternoon.

Most weekday mornings, you and I go into work to see your dad and all your misfit friends. You fight taking a nap at work so much that by the time we get home in the afternoon you're a super tired Graby. At work, you are entranced by the lights in you aunt Patty's office. Actually, you're mesmerized by all lights and fans.

In the afternoons you and I come home, cuddle and sleep on the couch and play. This is usually the time of day when I take your picture about 500 times. To you dad and I (and probably a couple other people), you are the cutest baby in the entire world.

You really are a wonderful and (for the most part) calm baby. I've loved watching you sleep since the first hour you were born and now, as you get older, I love watching you look around as you discover another fan (or light) or something else that captures your attention. However, I love nothing better than when you meet my eyes and smile. Your toothless grin makes us so happy.

I love every little thing about you, Cash - the way you scrunch up your face right before you're about to cry, how you fart when you eat, how you love your bath, the smiles you give me, the noises you make, your curiosity with all things relating to lights and fans and how you look when you sleep.

I had no idea what this type of love would feel like - but it's amazing. I now completely understand how my parents feel about me.

Please be sweet to your dad and me and please don't grow up to quickly.

Love,
Your Mom

I couldn't post just one picture for today, so here are a few of my favorites from the last couple of days.

Happy Birthday To Me!

The big 32!

What do I want? Is the eradication of my boob infection too much to ask for?

This is my first birthday as a blogger and a mother. This is also the first birthday in LONG time that I have received an action figure as a birthday gift - yup, that's right, my dear friend Liz got me a Prince of Persia action figure (along with a mani/pedi) - I'm not sure what she thinks I do with all my spare time.

I'll be relaxing and eating most of the day, but I do plan to go to work for a couple of hours just to get a few things done. Not sure what Buttin and I will do for my birthday dinner, but I see a great deal of cookie dough (Liz made me a batch last night) in my future.

Now, a tough little picture of Cash. Cash is telling my boobie infection. . . "why I outta".

Cellulite Issues

Please help this baby - he's got some butt dimple problems.
