Cash Makes Friends

Like most Wednesdays, I got together with my mommies group again today.

When we started this group Cash and two of the other boys were only about six weeks old and it has been so much fun to watch them grow together. Now they're starting to notice and interact with each other (although sometimes Cash still enjoys just looking at the fan).

Today, Cash was very interested in making friends with Henry. Henry is an adorable little boy who is a couple weeks older than Cash.

Here are a couple pictures of Cash & Henry. Cash is certainly more interested in Henry than Henry is in Cash - but I imagine that's because Cash looks up to Henry because he's older.

Here is a cute little picture of our group (although I kind of cut Bethany and Archer out) - what a shocker, Cash is looking at the fan.

And here's a picture of Cash just looking silly.

Thirty Second Movie Review - Knight & Day

Knight and Day

I usually enjoy Tom Cruise action movies - but this one was a pretty big failure (CGI was awful and Cruise and Diaz have zero chemistry). I have no idea why it was even called Knight and Day and I detest cutesy movie titles. Graby and Buttin were both well behaved, but neither one of them seemed to like it much either.

Here's a picture of the Graby - he was mesmerized by the computer this afternoon and really liked looking at his own pictures. Here he is looking at a picture of himself, looking at the computer.

No Looking Back

Even though the Austin Half is not until February - I registered for it today (it's $15 cheaper if you register by June 30th). It's the first race that I've registered for post-pregnancy and I'm excited but a little apprehensive. I've essentially started completely over with running and it's a little frustrating to be exhausted after 3 miles. I know I'll get there, it'll just take time - lots and lots of sweaty time.

Here's a cute little picture of the Graby. He's just so sweet and mellow.

Swimming - Day 2

OK, so this isn't quite the pool we had yesterday, but I still had fun.

This morning I woke up thinking that we should really have one of those very classy plastic pools for our backyard. I sent Buttin off to Wallyworld - and $10 later - Cash looks just about as excited as he did during our trip to Target.

I really just like this picture of me giving him kisses.

And here's just another one of him looking thrilled.

Swimming With Friends!

This afternoon we took Cash for a little swim with Mark, Jen and their children JT and Stefan and Ann, Ben and their son Connor.

I was a little nervous about the sun - so I think I was a little crazy with the sunscreen, but Cash man got a good 30 minute swim done before it was time to go home and eat.

This picture cracks me up - I didn't realize his little hat made him look like a bee keeper.

Here are Cash and Buttin swimming around - Graby seemed to prefer moving around, which is not surprising.
Here are Buttin, Cash, Ben and Connor. Connor wasn't really having too much fun in the water.

Here's Cash taking his turn not having fun. That's cute little JT in the background, she swims with flippers so she can stand on the bottom of the pool and move quickly when she does decide to swim.

Some of my favorite pictures of the afternoon (yes, there were a ton - Jen asked me if I EVER put the camera down and no, I really don't) were of Buttin drying Cash off and getting him ready to go back home. I just love this one.

When it was time to go, Cash was getting hungry but he still managed to give me this cute face.

I can't wait to go swimming again and I think Cash feels the same.

My First Trip To Target

Gigi - this one is for you!

Guest Post Author: C.H. Naylor

Today my mom (in all her wisdom) decided to take me on my first shopping trip (remember - she did want a girl, but she now tells me she wouldn't trade me for 100 of them) to Target.

As you can see, I'm super excited:

Our main objective was to buy stuff for my swim this afternoon. I loved the movie Toy Story 3, so here I am approving of my new towel.

Next, a swimsuit. Surprisingly there's not a BIG selection of little swimsuits for boys, but man - you could open a whole other store with the swimsuit choices for little girls. I really wanted a Speedo, but I guess this surf board thingy will have to do.

After all MY shopping, I was exhausted and decided to take a nap.

While I was sleeping, my mom decided to be a dork.

Then, because my mom is a good person, she decided to pay for our goodies.

This girl thought my mom was a dork too.

Then we packed up the car and went home.

It's A Small World

I learned Wednesday, while meeting with my moms group, that Candy's (one of the other moms) doctor was - wait for it - DOCTOR BITCH!

As it turns out, Doctor Bitch didn't actually deliver Henry (her son) - it would be REALLY good story if it was Dr. Elephant, but it was another doctor in the practice. According to Candy, Dr. Bitch is all business - which for me, is great when you're looking for an accountant, but not so great when you're going through something like childbirth.

Here is little Cash man in a (yet another) new outfit. This one was purchased by Buttin - he just couldn't resist when he went to Babies R Us yesterday to pick up another car seat base.

Is This Approved By The Manufacturer?

My mommies group is still meeting every Wednesday. We have all become real friends and I always look forward to seeing them (and their adorable sons).

Although our little boys vary in ages (from about 2. 5 months - 4.5 months), we all seem to be experiencing some sleep issues.

One of the little boys (who is older than Cash - I think he's around 4.5 months old) does most of his sleeping in a swing and doesn't really like to lay flat.

I was a little shocked that her son could still be in his swing because we currently have to weigh down Cash's swing, but she has to weigh hers down too. Cash takes his morning nap in his swing and loves to look at the toys.

Here he is in his swing this morning - at least those hand weights are getting used for something.

Daddy Kisses While Cash Blows Bubbles

I was taking pictures (surprise!) of Cash and Buttin tonight and I saw this picture and thought the expression on Cash's face was funny. Then I noticed a tiny little bubble coming out of his mouth. I've officially (if it wasn't official already) become one of THOSE moms -look everything my kid does is cute - oh well, it's not so bad if it's true. Right?

My (Hopeful) Race Calendar

I'm just in my second week back at running since the dreaded boob infection, but I need to have goals.

Here's my (and my mom's) race calendar for the 2010 - 2011 season (because we're like professional athletes).

October 17th - IBM Uptown Classic - 10K
October 23rd - Marathon for Adoption - Half Marathon (maybe)
November 14th - San Antonio Rock N Roll - Half Marathon
January 30th - Houston Chevron Marathon - Half Marathon (if we make the lottery)
February 20th - Austin Marathon - Half Marathon
April 11th - Capitol 10K - 10K

If we did the Dallas White Rock Half Marathon in December, we would qualify as "half fanatics" , albeit at the lowest level (Neptune: 3 half-marathons in 90 days). Oh well - maybe that's a goal of the 2011 - 2012 season.

Thirty Second Movie Review - Toy Story 3

Toy Story 3

As a family, we ventured to the Alamo Drafthouse for our second movie in as many weeks. This one is decidedly more family-friendly and the theater was PACKED with kids of all ages - most were in the toddler range.

I LOVED this movie. I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to cry during it, but I did and I didn't care. Cash was actually awake for part of the movie and watched the screen with HUGE eyes. When he wasn't watching the movie - he was eating or sleeping - hardly a peep out of him.

Here's what Cash thought of the movie.

Happy Anniversary (to my blog)!

One year ago today, I started this little bloggy adventure.

Lots has happened in a year . . .
I did lots of other stuff in between, but I love being able to look back at many of the things that happened during the past year. Here's to another fun year of blogging, running, working, movie watching and being a mom!

Now, here's a video of Cash.

Happy Father's Day & A Look-A-Like Contest!

Happy Father's Day!

It's Buttin's first Father's Day and we're spending it just like any other Sunday - on the couch, relaxing and watching TV.

And now for a cute little game of "Name That Parent & Cash Feature"

As a reminder, here are a couple cute little pictures of Cash:

Now for each of the following pictures
  • Name the parent (the only options are me or Buttin); and
  • Cash feature (options are: hair, mouth, eyes, cheeks)

The winner receives an awesome (to be determined) prize!

Cash's First Swim

Yesterday, Cash went for his first swim in his Aunt Liz & Uncle Jonathan's hot tub.

It was in the late afternoon and he was a little grumpy, but I think he really enjoyed it.

Here he is practicing the backstroke - it's the lazy kind of backstroke where you just kind of lay there, but I see potential.

Here he is making a pouty face when I told him it was time to get out of the water:

Here he is drooling in the pool:

And here he is drying off with Daddy:

I think he's looking forward to lots of swimming this summer - I should probably go by him a proper bathing suit. If his Uncle Mark has any say in it, it'll be a Speedo.

Thirty Second Movie Review - Get Him To The Greek

Get Him To The Greek

Not as funny as The Hangover, but still hilarious. Cash, Buttin and I really enjoyed our first movie together as a family.

I Want It

Cash got tons of exercise today with MorMor.

He can now skooch (or kind of plop) over the boopy.

Here he is (very scientific time lapse photography) stalking, hunting and capturing his prey (a stuffed lion).

MorMor Is Back!

She spent about 15 minutes asleep this afternoon, Cash spent about 20 minutes. I hope he sleeps well tonight . . .

One Busy Day

Things have been very busy lately.

Buttin and I don't get to see much of each other and we rarely (if ever) get the opportunity to see a movie together. If you know us, you know that we love movies and they're important to us.

Our favorite theater is the Alamo Drafthouse and pre-baby Graby you could find us there on any given Friday night with our friends, Liz and Jonathan. Alamo has this cool thing for parents called "baby day" where the first afternoon show of every movie on Tuesday is for parents with small children (they get in free). They keep the lights on a little higher and the sound a little lower and you don't have to worry about inconveniencing other people because you have a crying baby.

So -today was our first movie out as a family. Cash's first movie in the theater was R-rated, aren't we good parents?

Here he is with Buttin:

Cash slept during most of movie and was a very good baby. There were several other parents of tiny infants in attendance - I think the smallest was a month old. Ahh . . .I remember when Cash was only a month old.

As if that wasn't enough excitement for one day (we also went to work in the morning), Cash and I went out to dinner with my friend Suzin and her two children.

Her daughter Taylor was so sweet with Cash. She held him for about 10 minutes and when he would fuss she would pull him closer and pat him on the tummy. She's better with Cash than many adults. She also left me a message after dinner talking about all the things she has waiting for Cash at her house for when she gets to babysit him. Such a sweetheart.

Here they are:

We got home around 6:30 and Cash was exhausted. Tomorrow should be more relaxing. MorMor is coming into town so Cash will have every single one of his wants met, instantly.

30 For 30

I have a TV recommendation!

Buttin and I started watching 30 for 30 this weekend. It's an ESPN documentary series - featuring 30 sports stories by 30 different film makers.

We watched the Guru of Go and Buttin and I were reduced to blubbering fools & I don't even like basketball that much. I slept through the middle part of Run Ricky Run (hook'em horns), but Buttin said it was fascinating (and the parts I stayed awake for were great). These documentaries make the little feature stories they do during the Olympics look like junior high journalism pieces.

Now, a little picture of my athlete (I've got my fingers crossed for curling):

My New (to me) Car, A Run & A Video

I now have a car that can hold a car seat (because the Mustang just wouldn't really work) and now Buttin can have his truck back. Apparently, my new car has quite the history - Buttin was told that some man was shot and killed over it (not IN it, just about it). I can't imagine a more lame thing to die over - a 2006 Chevy Equinox. I'm thinking that it's some kind of Darwin Award Story.

Here's a little picture - I don't have a name for her yet, but I'll have one soon.

For the first time in several weeks I went for a short run this morning. It was unbearably disgusting, but it felt good to be moving. My legs felt a little like jello when I got home, even though I only went two miles.

Now, a cute little video of Graby.

Message From The White House

I read on the interwebs way back when Cash was still Lumpy that if you send a birth announcement to the White House, you will receive a response. I thought it'd be cool to have a note from the President for Cash's baby book, but didn't really expect anything.

We received our response yesterday! It's just a little form card, but it was hand addressed (I'm sure by Michelle herself) and regardless of your feelings about Obama - I think it's pretty special.
