Molly Update

My attack dog, Molly, went to the vet yesterday. She had a bunch of blood work done to see if we could pinpoint a reason for her grumpiness.

Everything looked good, which leads me to believe one of the following things must have been the reason for Molly lunging (and subtly showing teeth) at Barbie last week:

1. Barbie deserved it;
2. Molly thought she was protecting Barbie from and invisible (to people) cockroach;
3. Molly was possessed by the eviler twin of Cartman; and/or
4. Molly thought Barbie was food.

Point Of No Return

Today I registered for the San Antonio Rock N Roll MARATHON. It's now only about 14 short weeks away. The picture above is (no doubt) my running peer group.

I guess this doesn't exactly qualify as the point of no return, YET! However, my $105 fee is non-refundable. I'm sure come race day, I'll be running as fast as I can (in the opposite direction of the start line) towards the nearest donut shop.

I ran a little over 6 miles yesterday morning & there must have been just a little less humidity because I felt pretty good and was running a little faster than my normal slow, sweaty, disgusting pace. No small children were frightened during my run yesterday.

This morning, I was the only one at my Team Tri class. It was like a personal training session for me - a very hard personal training session. I was was still the gym's largest sweat producer, but at least I got to run in the AC.

Thirty Second Movie Review - Funny People

Funny People

Not as funny as Knocked Up, but it has more heart. It ran a little too long for me, but it was 9:30 when the movie finished and that may have had something to do with it. I think men will enjoy this movie more than women & I'm basing that on the statistically significant sample of my husband.

Full Circle Smiles

Sometimes, life just comes full circle and randomly you're reminded of a happy time from your past.

Before I became a misfit leader, hobo finder (we had two today - laying practically on 183) and major stresser-outer - I worked in product development for Blackhawk Network. It's kind of difficult to describe exactly what I did - but in the simplest terms - I helped to create financial service products that were distributed at retail locations (like the gift cards sold at Randall's).

I was opening all the mail today & came across some junk mail (I'm like a junk mail magnet). Usually, I NEVER open junk mail or if I accidentally open it, as soon as I realize it's junk mail - I throw it away! There was one particular piece today that I opened and actually looked at - and low and behold - there was a picture of a gift card that I had spent over one year of my life helping to create!

I don't think I could ever forget BIN 441669 (for those not in the know, a BIN is the first 6 digits of a debit/credit card). I spent so many hours, days, weeks and months on this product & as I opened the piece of junk mail - all the happy (but stressful & sometimes bizarre) memories came rushing back.

I love how life sometimes comes full circle and reminds you at just the perfect time that all is good in the world! Thank you piece of random junk mail for making my day.

My Life: The Sitcom

One of my new favorite shows is Better Off Ted.

In my opinion, the best parts of the show are the commercials for the fictional company, Veridian Dynamics - the location that serves as the setting for the show.

Sometimes, I think my life is like a sitcom - which I guess is better than a soap opera or one of those public access conspiracy shows. One need only read some of the few posts regarding the "misfits" to understand the sitcom-like nature of my life.

For when Hollywood comes calling, here are some sitcom names and posters for my life at Carpet Warehouse.

Stiz TV

I may have mentioned it a time or two, but it deserves repeating - I rather enjoy television. Even though I have about 200 bazillion channels, sometimes I can never find anything to watch. For this reason my fabulous friend Liz and I are going to create a new channel, Stiz.

Here is my proposed programming line up for Stiz.

Sunday:
Law & Order SVU & Law & Order (all day long)
Monday - Thursday:
Morning - Sunrise Earth, Afternoon - Law & Order (all three), Evening - Pushing Daisies, The Closer & Burn Notice.
Friday:
Morning - Sunrise Earth, Afteroon - Criminal Minds, Law & Order (all three) & Bones, Evening - various movies approved by us, possibilities include: Sahara, James Bond & Harry Potter.
Saturday: Morning & Afternoon - Real Housewives of New York & Orange County, Law & Order (all three) & The Closer. Evening - other various movies approved by us.

Stiz will focus on comfort television - the type of shows that you just want on in the background and a channel you can always turn to when you can't find anything else to watch. Programming will change (if I'm not busy taking a napy) as Liz & I discover new shows that we agree would add to the already existing line up.

The Poet

I'm not really a poet, but for as long as I can remember - I've enjoyed writing little poems. I write them to cheer people up, to apologize for killing a beloved pet and of course, to get famous.

I wrote one poem a couple months ago as my speech for my friend Nana's wedding. In honor of Nana and my trip to Houston to see her - here is the poem:

I Want To Be An O’Neal

I want to be an O’Neal, for all the reasons I will now state.

I want to be an O’Neal, even if it means always being late.

All the O’Neals – both young and old;

Are loving & forever your heart they will hold.

To be an O’Neal is to laugh and share;

And if you’re a girl to have blonde (sometimes white) hair.

There is one O’Neal who I love in the most special way,

She’s half of the reason that we’re here today.

It’s Shannon O’Neal – who like all the rest,

Is charming and beautiful and I love her the best.

We are all blessed to know her, as friend, sister, daughter, doctor (I can’t believe it) and animal lover;

and we all know one day she’ll make the most wonderful mother.

To know Shannon is to love her & there are so many reasons why,

Even though we’ve all been late waiting for her lotion to dry.

She’s the middle daughter in the O’Neal family,

A family that a part of – I want to be.

I love all the O’Neals – Fuffer to WamWam to Bugaloo, Klomp Klomp & Boogliwoop!

And because I love the O’Neals – I now love the Stroopes.
