I was driving into work a couple days ago, and I heard a story on NPR about the Harry Potter Alliance.
How I managed to go this long never having heard of this organization, I'll never know - but now I'm a member.
The goal of this non-profit is to take themes from the Harry Potter books (i.e. house elf slavery = fair wage campaigns) and make community/political activism accessible to younger people. J.K. Rowling has said she's extremely flattered by and proud of the organization.
This is just yet another reason why Harry Potter is so much awesomer than Twilight.
P.S. I'm going to see the movie tomorrow night, be prepared for a four cookie review!
